HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

This nationally recognised unit provides the essential skills and knowledge to respond to cardiac and respiratory emergencies in accordance with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.
Learners will gain hands-on experience performing CPR on adults and infants, using an automated external defibrillator (AED), and following correct emergency response procedures.

Delivery Mode

Blended Learning (Online + Face-to-Face)

  • Online Theory: Complete the theory component online at your own pace through interactive multiple-choice and short-answer assessments.

  • Practical Training: Conducted face-to-face at an approved training venue. Participants will demonstrate CPR techniques using manikins and resuscitation equipment under the supervision of a qualified trainer.

DETAILS

By completing this course, participants will learn how to:

  • Recognise and respond to cardiac arrest.

  • Perform CPR on adults and infants in line with ARC Guidelines.

  • Safely use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

  • Follow workplace and community emergency procedures.

  • Communicate incident details to emergency services and workplace supervisors.

 

Certification:
Successful participants will receive a Statement of Attainment in HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, recognised across Australia and compliant with current workplace requirements.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

This course has open entry; however, participants must:

 

  • Have sufficient English, literacy, and digital skills (LLND evaluation and Pre-Training Review required).

  • Be 18 years or older to undertake practical placement (if applicable).

  • Have access to a computer and basic digital literacy.

  • Be physically able to perform CPR on a manikin on the floor for at least 2 minutes.

  • Obtain required clearances and vaccinations if completing work placements in healthcare or community settings.
